Crash Involving Amtrak Train and Pickup Truck near East Tabor and Railroad Avenues Leaves 1 Dead
FAIRFIELD, CA (April 28, 2023) – One person was killed in a train crash near East Tabor Avenue and Railroad Avenue in Fairfield on Wednesday morning.
The fatal crash happened around 8:39 a.m. on April 26. According to the Fairfield Police Department, an Amtrak train hit a pickup truck, causing the truck to crash into several other vehicles.
At least two vehicles sustained major damage from the crash.
One person inside the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Several other people suffered moderate to major injuries and were taken to a hospital.
About 120 people, including passengers and crew, were on board the train but no injuries were reported to them.
Officers closed the roadways in the area for several hours as they worked on the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
