Pedestrian Dies after Struck by At Least One Hit-and-Run Driver on 10 Freeway in East LA

 
EAST LOS ANGELES, CA (May 16, 2023) – One person was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in East Los Angeles Sunday evening on May 14.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:09 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the freeway, just east of Campus Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was crossing eastbound and was struck by at least one vehicle, which left the scene, including a dark BMW.
 
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
Crews issued a SigAlert in the area, shutting down three lanes just east of Campus Drive and diverting traffic onto the Long Beach (710) Freeway.
 
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
