COACHELLA, CA (July 31, 2024) – One person died in a pedestrian accident on Grapefruit Boulevard in Coachella Tuesday evening on July 30.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:40 p.m. at Cesar Chavez Street. According to Cal Fire, a vehicle struck the pedestrian at the intersection in unclear circumstances.
 
The impact caused the pedestrian significant injuries.
 
First responders tried saving the victim, who did not survive and died at the scene.

Crews closed the westbound lanes from Gateway Center to Avenue 49 as Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted an investigation.
