Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle on 580 Freeway in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (September 6, 2022) – One person died in a pedestrian accident on 580 Freeway in Oakland Saturday evening on September 3.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:15 p.m. along the westbound freeway near MacArthur Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian attempted to run across the freeway when a vehicle struck them.
 
The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. Authorities withheld their identity at this time.
 
The driver pulled over and remained on scene.
 
No one in the involved vehicle sustained injuries from the crash.
 
Further investigation is underway.
