Motorcycle Rider Dies, Passenger Suffers Critical Injuries after Struck by SUV on East Chapman Avenue in Orange

 
ORANGE, CA (September 9, 2024) – One person died and another was critically injured in a motorcycle accident at East Chapman Avenue and South Yorba Street in Orange on Friday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 1:48 p.m. on September 6. According to the Orange Police Department, a Hyundai Tucson was traveling westbound on Chapman Avenue. At the same time, the victim was riding their motorcycle with a passenger, traveling eastbound.
 
As the motorcycle was heading straight east and had the right of way, the driver of the Hyundai made a left turn into a parking lot across traffic. The SUV then collided into the motorcycle.
 
As a result of the crash, the motorcycle rider died at the scene. Their passenger was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
 
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. An investigation is underway.
