Two Vehicles Collide, One Catches Fire on Highway 74 in Rancho Mission Viejo Killing One

 
RANCHO MISSION VIEJO, CA (July 4, 2023) – One person was killed in a fiery two-vehicle accident on Highway 74 in Rancho Mission Viejo early Saturday morning on July 1.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:15 a.m. just west of Lucas. According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles collided along the westbound highway for unknown reasons. The impact caused one of the vehicles to catch fire and smash into a power pole.
 
First responders pronounced one person dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased was not immediately available.
 
Paramedics rushed another person as a trauma patient to a hospital in an unknown condition, the Orange County Fire Authority said.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved are still under investigation.
