Fiery Crash on 5 Freeway in Gorman Leaves One Person Dead
GORMAN, CA (October 3, 2024) – One person was killed in a fiery accident on 5 Freeway in Gorman Wednesday evening on October 2.
The fatal accident happened around 9:30 p.m. at Gorman School Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2012 Honda was traveling southbound on the freeway when crashed for unknown reasons. The impact caused the car to catch fire, spreading to the surrounding brush off the freeway.
Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded and extinguished the fire.
A total of 13 acres were burned until crews stopped forward progress of the flames around 11:20 p.m.
One person was declared dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries while fighting the flames.
