Officer Matthew Bowen Dies, Serena Rodriguez Detained in DUI Crash near Leisure Town Road and Orange Drive

 
VACAVILLE, CA (July 12, 2024) — Officer Matthew Bowen died in a DUI accident near Leisure Town Road and Orange Drive.
 
According to Vacaville Police, the fatal DUI crash happened around 10:30 a.m. Thursday. While impaired, 24-year-old Serena Rodriguez allowed her vehicle to hit a motorcycle officer making a traffic stop on another vehicle. Subsequently, she tried to flee the scene, but witnesses detained her before officers arrived.
 
Following the accident, paramedics took 32-year-old Officer Matthew Bowen to a hospital where he passed away. He is survived by his wife and two young sons.
 
Police took Rodriguez to Solano County Jail where she faces homicide and DUI charges.
