CONTRA COSTA, CA (April 10, 2023) — An officer suffered an injury in a DUI accident on Highway 242 and Highway 4.
 
According to Contra Costa Police officers, the incident happened just after 8:00 p.m. Saturday. The incident first started when a CHP officer conducted a traffic stop on a driver of a Chevrolet. Subsequently, an impaired driver in a southbound Mercedes-Benz slammed into the Chevrolet that was pulled over. As a result of the impact, the Chevrolet struck the officer standing next to the vehicle.
 
Soon after, two ambulances arrived at the scene to tend to the officer and one other patient. The Mercedes-Benz driver dodged harm in the accident but not an arrest as officers detained him for DUI.
