Lompoc Collision During Search for Wanted Subject
LOMPOC, CA (January 8, 2024) — A Lompoc police officer sustained injuries in a collision on A Street Thursday before noon.
According to the Lompoc police, the crash took place while the police officers were assisting a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive apprehension team.
Based on reports, at 11:49 a.m., Lompoc police officers assisted a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive apprehension team on the 800 block of North A Street. The operation aimed to apprehend a wanted male subject who was evading the apprehension team.
During the incident, two City of Lompoc police vehicles collided, resulting in injuries to a motorcycle officer. The officer, whose name was not disclosed, sustained unknown injuries and received treatment in an area hospital.
Despite the collision, the law enforcement operation proved successful as the U.S. Marshals apprehended the male subject they sought. However, the police did not divulge details about the subject and the reason why they apprehended the individual.
Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol officers are actively investigating the collision to determine the factors contributing to the incident and establish accountability.
