High-Speed Chase with Burglary Suspect Ends in Crash on Santa Rosa Road in Camarillo
CAMARILLO, CA (February 5, 2025) – Multiple people were injured in a high-speed chase on Santa Rosa Road in Camarillo on January 24.
According to the reports, 24-year-old Jalen Amir Yoakum of Lancaster wa caught stealing merchandise from a Target store.
When Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, Yoakum attempted to evade arrest by ramming into an undercover law enforcement vehicle. That led deputies on a high-speed chase.
The pursuit only ended when Yoakum crashed into two vehicles on Santa Rosa Road.
As a result of the crash, one of the cars overturned, seriously injuring the driver and three other people.
Yoakum then fled the scene on foot. However, officials caught him and took him into custody.
After the arrest, authorities recovered a loaded firearm inside Yoakum’s car.
Yoakum now faces six felony charges, including evading police and causing injury, reckless driving, multiple firearm offenses and two misdemeanor hit-and-run charges. He also faces one count of petty theft.
He is currently being held at the Ventura County Jail on $2 million bail.
An investigation is underway.
