James Baxley Involved in Fatal Porterville Motorcycle Crash
PORTERVILLE, CA (September 22, 2021) – Police confirmed that a rider died in a motorcycle crash with driver James Baxley on Avenue 56 on September 11.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just west of Old Stage Road around 1:15 PM.
Based on an initial report, a 2016 Harley Davidson was westbound on Avenue 56 at the time of the crash. At the same time, 84-year-old James Baxley was driving 2001 Dodge eastbound on the same road, approaching the rider at an unknown speed. As the rider entered a curve, he entered the yellow lines and crashed into the front of the Dodge.
As a result of the crash, the rider died in the incident. Officials only identified him as a 47-year-old Visalia resident.
At this point, it is still unclear if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this collision. Also, this collision remains under investigation.
