Michael Crummel, Ahtawna Palmer Detained in Wrong-Way Accident on 15 Freeway near D Street
VICTORVILLE, CA (November 20, 2024) — Officers arrested Michael Crummel and Ahtawna Palmer following a police chase on the 15 Freeway near D Street.
Authorities investigated a stolen trailer around 1:30 p.m. on November 18. Upon tracing it to a dirt lot, investigators noticed a man and a woman entering a white 2017 Toyota Corolla and leaving. Subsequently, deputies attempted a traffic stop, but 40-year-old Crummel failed to comply, and a chase unfolded.
Some time during the chase, Crummel drove in the wrong direction and the California Highway Patrol took over. CHP officers intervened by crashing into the wrong-way vehicle.
After the incident, officers arrested Crummel and his 44-year-old female passenger Palmer. Since both suspects were hurt, a helicopter landed to airlift Palmer to a trauma center, and paramedics ushered Crummel to a local hospital via ground ambulance.
After a detailed search, police found a stolen truck and several firearms on the lot.
Some drivers do not care about road safety. When driving, watch for reckless drivers. Some travel in the wrong direction or speed. Others weave in and out of the lanes or run red lights.
