Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Ambulance in Monterey County

 
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (January 30, 2025) – Maria Morales was hit and killed by an ambulance in Monterey County early Tuesday morning on January 28.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:29 a.m. on Abbott Street near Harris Road. According to the Califonia Highway Patrol, Morales was walking across the roadway when a Ford Transit ambulance owned by American Medical Response struck her.
 
The 33-year-old driver from Templeton reportedly attempted to swerve to avoid Morales, but unsuccessful.
 
Morales suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a 41-year-old Salinas resident.
 
Morales’s family has set up a GoFundMe for funeral expenses.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
