Man Dies after His Vehicle Crashes with Amtrak Train at Robben and Tremont Roads
SOLANO COUNTY, CA (April 5, 2023) – A man was killed after a train accident at Robben Road and Tremont Road in Solano County on Tuesday morning.
The fatal accident happened around 9:20 a.m. on April 4, at a railroad crossing just east of 80 Freeway. According to the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, the man was driving a vehicle when he collided with an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train. The train was traveling from Sacramento to Emeryville.
The man, whose identity was not immediatel available, died at the scene. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
According to a statement from Amtrak, none of the 62 passengers or crew on the train were injured.
Officials said the locomotive separated from the passenger cars on the train, but there was no major damage to the equipment.
Alcohol or drugs did not play a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
