20-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Sedan on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz
SANTA CRUZ, CA (March 23, 2024) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 1 in the Santa Cruz area early Friday morning on March 22.
The fatal accident happened around 1:52 a.m. just south of Main Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 20-year-old Sonora man was trying to cross the northbound highway when he was hit by an oncoming 2019 Honda Civic.
As a result, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. His name was not immediately available.
Officers said the victim was wearing dark clothing and it was also very dark outside.
The 54-year-old male driver from Watsonville is not suspected of being under the influence at the time of the crash. No arrests were made.
This fatality is still under investigation.
