Man Dies in Hit-and-Run 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 in Camarillo

CAMARILLO, CA (January 3, 2025) — A man died in a hit-and-run 2-car accident on Highway 101 near Carmen Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol Ventura Area Office, the deadly two-vehicle crash happened on December 31 around 12:59 a.m. For an unknown reason, a 40-year-old man driving a high-speed 2007 Lexus IS 250 made an unsafe turning movement. Subsequently, the Lexus struck a retaining wall, and the car rolled onto one of the lanes on the highway. From there, an oncoming 2010 Ford Mustang struck the disabled vehicle.

The driver of the Ford reportedly left the scene on foot. Moments after the crash, CHP officers and paramedics arrived, bringing the Lexus driver from Oxnard to Ventura County Medical Center where he passed away from his injuries.

Authorities need the public’s help with identifying and locating the Ford driver. Thus, if anyone has more to add to this accident, call the Ventura area CHP office at 805-662-2640.
