DUI Crash Involving 3 Vehicles on Fulton Avenue Leaves 1 Driver Dead
SACRAMENTO, CA (May 20, 2024) – A man was killed in a DUI three-vehicle crash on Fulton Avenue in Sacramento Saturday afternoon on May 18.
The fatal crash happened just after 5:30 near Marconi Avenue. According to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, a Dodge pickup truck was traveling southbound on Fulton Avenue when a speeding Toyota SUV rear-ended it. The impact launched the Dodge onto the curb, while the Toyota crossed into northbound lanes and collided head-on with a Volkswagen SUV, carrying a woman and an infant.
Responding emergency crews had to keep the Dodge from falling into the Chicken Ranch Slough canal.
The driver of the Dodge, a man in his 50s, died at the scene.
A passenger in the Dodge was taken to the hospital with a complaint of pain.
The Volkswagen’s driver, a woman in her 30s, suffered cuts. Her baby inside the car was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The Toyota’s driver, also a man in his 50s, had minor lacerations. He was later arrested and booked into Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.
An investigation into this crash is underway.
