Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Pickup Truck on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz County
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA (February 14, 2025) – A man was hit and killed by a car on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz County early Thursday morning on February 13.
The fatal crash happened around 4:22 a.m. just south of Scaroni Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 52-year-old man was driving a black 2005 Ford Ranger north of the highway when he struck the male pedestrian who was walking on the road.
The impact caused the pedestrian major injuries and he died at the scene.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office will release the victim’s identity once the next of kin has been notified.
Alcohol or drugs did not play a role in the crash, which is under investigation.
