Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Oxnard Boulevard
OXNARD, CA (June 6, 2024) – A man was fatally struck by a vehicle on Oxnard Boulevard early Wednesday morning on June 5.
The fatal crash happened around 3:10 a.m. just south of Statham Boulevard. According to the Oxnard Police Department, the man intentionally placed himself in front of oncoming traffic and was struck.
Police officials later determined the victim chose to lie down in southbound traffic lanes.
A 2009 Pontiac G6, driven by a 53-year-old Oxnard woman, was heading southbound on the boulevard and struck the man as he was lying in the roadway.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office only identified him as a 51-year-old Oxnard resident.
The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with officers.
The investigation closed a section of the southbound roadway for hours, including during the morning commute. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Traffic Investigator Jason Coleman at 805-200-5668 or [email protected].
