6-Year-Old Boy Dies after Struck by Car on 280 Freeway near Leland Avenue

 
SAN JOSE, CA (December 17, 2024)King Holguin was hit and killed by a car in San Jose late Friday evening on December 13.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:55 p.m. on 280 Freeway, just south of Leland Avenue. According to the California to the Highway Patrol, the 6-year-old boy from San Jose ran into the freeway lane when a 2024 Nissan Altima struck him.
 
The impact caused Holguin major injuries. Responding paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.
 
Holguin was supposed to turn 7 years old in two weeks, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner.
 
Holguin’s mother told authorities that her son was autistic and non-verbal, with no understanding of traffic. She said their home has child safety locks but somehow, the victim managed to escape.
 
Loved one’s created a GoFundMe page for the Holguin’s funeral expenses.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old male driver of the Nissan from San Jose stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.

Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash, which is under investigation.
