Two-Vehicle Crash in Winchester Kills 1 Passenger and Injures 3 Others

 
WINCHESTER, CA (July 2, 2024)Kimberly Higgins was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Winchester Sunday on June 23.
 
The fatal accident happened around 1:38 p.m. at Simpson Road and California Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 17-year-old resident of Romoland was driving a 2012 Jeep Wrangler southbound on California Avenue when it failed to stop or yield at the stop sign. The Jeep then collided with a Chevrolet Cruze that was heading westbound on Simpson Road.
 
There are stop signs on California but there are no signs or signals on Simpson, the CHP said.
 
Higgins, a passenger in the Cruze, suffered significant injuries and died at Inland Valley Medical Center. She was a 51-year-old Hemet resident, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver of the Cruze, a 53-year-old Hemet man, along with a 13-year-old female passenger from San Jacinto, suffered major injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Jeep had minor injuries.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
