Driver Dies after Crash with Hit-and-Run Driver in Camarillo
CAMARILLO, CA (January 5, 2025) – Jose Luis Ramirez Jr. was killed in a rollover hit-and-run crash in Camarillo early Tuesday morning on December 31.
The fatal crash happened shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Highway 101, just north of Carmen Drive. According to the CHP, Ramirez had been driving a Lexus IS 250 northbound at a high rate of speed when he made an unsafe turning movement to the right and hit a concrete wall.
The Lexus then overturned into traffic lanes, where it was struck by a northbound Ford Mustang.
Ramirez suffered severe injuries and was rushed at Ventura County Medical Center.
Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, Ramirez did not survive and was declared dead. He was a 40-year-old Oxnard resident, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Mustang fled the scene on foot and had not been located.
It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
