Jose Cruz and Jose Mendoza Dead, Adam Alvarez Hospitalized in Belridge Head-On Crash
BELRIDGE, CA (March 17, 2022) — Two men died in a fatal head-on car accident on Highway 33 near Lerdo Highway on Saturday, March 12.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 22-year-old Jose Wuilver Rodas Cruz and 53-year-old Jose Mario Gomez Mendoza, both of Salinas.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Cruz was driving the vehicle and Mendoza was a passenger. Around 5:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, Cruz and Mendoza traveled northbound on Highway 33 in a 2009 Honda. At that time, Cruz lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer into the southbound lane and collide head-on with a southbound 2003 Toyota.
Although the 36-year-old Toyota driver – Adam Alvarez – applied his brakes, both vehicles collided head-on.
Cruz and Mendoza died at the scene.
Paramedics brought Alvarez to Kern Medical with moderate injuries.
