20-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with Box Truck in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 3, 2024) – Jose Ruan Lopez was killed in a motorcycle accident in San Diego early Monday morning on September 30.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Enrico Fermi Drive, just north of Otay Mesa Road. According to the CHP, Lopez was riding his Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle northbound on Enrico Fermi Drive when he rear-ended a yellow box truck that had disabled in the roadway.
 
The impact of the crash ejected Lopez onto the roadway. He suffered major injuries and died at the scene. He was a 20-year-old Chula Vista resident, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
 
A toxicology report is pending to determine if alcohol/and or drugs played a role in the crash.
