Construction Worker Dies after Struck by Truck Driven by Co-Worker in Bell

 
BELL, CA (December 8, 2024) – Jose Arias Barrientos was hit and killed by a truck in the city of Bell early Saturday morning on December 7.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. at Gage Avenue and Heliotrope Avenue. According to the Bell Police Department, Barrientos was welding metal in the street when he was hit by the construction truck, driven by his co-worker.
 
Barrientos suffered fatal injuries from the crash and died at the scene. He was a 57-year-old Los Angeles resident, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
 
The co-worker who drove the truck remained at the scene and spoke with investigators before he was released.
 
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health responded to investigate the scene.
