Jessica Munoz Killed, Nhan Nguyen Charged in DUI Multi-Car Crash at Sebastopol Road near Lombardi Lane
SANTA ROSA, CA (August 19, 2024) — Jessica Munoz died in a DUI multi-car crash at Sebastopol Road near Lombardi Lane.
According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, 31-year-old Jessica Avila Munoz died in the 1:30 p.m. crash on Friday. For DUI reasons, 68-year-old Nhan Van Nguyen ran a red light and crashed his Dodge pickup truck into a Honda, driven by 31-year-old Jessica Avila Munoz who was turning from Lombardi Lane. Subsequently, the impact sent the Honda into a Toyota Prius.
Minutes later, Santa Rosa police officers and emergency personnel responded and found Munoz trapped in her vehicle. After firefighters freed her, they took her to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, she passed away moments later.
After the crash, police arrested Nguyen after he displayed signs of impairment during the investigation.
At this time, he remains booked into the Sonoma County Jail for vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.
As for the Toyota driver, he or she did not claim any injuries.
