High-Speed Crash on 15 Freeway in Wildomar Kills 43-Year-Old Man

 
WILDOMAR, CA (July 28, 2024) – Jay Vann was killed in a high-speed crash in Wildomar Thursday afternoon on July 25.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on southbound 15 Freeway at Lemon Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, Vann was driving a 2017 Dodge Caravan over the speed limit when he suddenly swerved left and clipped the rear of a 2023 Dodge Charger, driven by 31-year-old Lake Elsinore woman.
 
The Caravan continued traveling southbound along the west shoulde while speeds increased to approximately 85 mph. It then sideswiped the metal guardrail several times.
 
When Vann approached Lemon Street, his vehicle launched from a dirt embankment and smashed into another embankment on the other side of the road. The Caravan landed on its wheels and rolled backward down the embankment.

Vann was trapped inside his vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 43-year-old Lake Elsinore resident.

The woman in the Charger was unharmed.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The CHP Temecula Area office asked anyone with further information to contact them at 951-466-4300.
