Passenger Dies after Struck by Motorist while Standing Outside of Stalled Car in Glendale
GLENDALE, CA (August 20, 2024) – Jake Huard was hit and killed by a car in Glendale late Friday evening on August 16.
The fatal crash happened just after 11:40 p.m. on 134 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver-colored Mitsubishi was stopped in the freeway lane when Huard, the right front passenger, exited the vehicle.
A passing black Mazda then crashed into the rear of the Mitsubishi and Huard who was standing outside of the car.
Huard suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 24 years old.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 19-year-old Pasadena woman, suffered major injuries in the crash.
The driver of the Mazda, a 22-year-old El Monte man, had minor injuries.
It was unclear if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
