NORCO, CA (March 15, 2022) — A horse was hit and killed by a car on the 15 Freeway near Sixth Street on Sunday afternoon.
 
According to California Highway Patrol officers, the incident happened around 1:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, a truck passing by made a loud noise, which startled two horses on the Sixth Street bridge. Due to this, the equestrians fell off as the horses galloped toward the freeway lanes.
 
Subsequently, an oncoming vehicle struck one of the horses. However, reports did not indicate whether the other animal was hit or injured.
 
Soon after, animal control officers arrived at the scene to tend to the severely injured horse, which died shortly after.
