Elderly Woman Dies in Late Evening Hit-and-Run Crash in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 12, 2024) – Gloria Provencio was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Bakersfield late Wednesday evening on January 10.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:33 p.m. in the 3800 block of Stockdale Highway at Real Road. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Provencio was crossing the street when a vehicle struck her.
 
The driver of the vehicle took off after the crash, police said.
 
Provencio suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was 79 years old of Bakersfield.
 
Officers did not release a suspect description at this time.
 
It was unknown if speed or impairment were factors in the crash. BPD asked anyone with information to call them at 661-327-7111.
