Plane Crash near Kneeland Airport Kills Two Contractors
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (July 31, 2024) – Gabe Kulp and Thomas Smith died in a plane crash in Humboldt County Tuesday morning on July 23.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the single-engine Cessna 206 took off from Sacramento McClellan Airport and crashed near Kneeland Airport around 11:30 a.m.
Kulp, the pilot, and Smith, a mechanic, were the only people on board. They work for Amentum, an aviation company contracted with Cal Fire.
The two were both killed in the crash.
The crash also caused a vegetation fire in the area, according to Cal Fire.
No other information is available at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
