RIVERSIDE, CA (October 31, 2024) – Authorities arrested 62-year-old Ezekial Avendano Lopez following a police chase collision on Collett Avenue, Thursday afternoon.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the incident happened on October 24, at about 2:30 p.m. Fontana Police were in pursuit of the suspect when he intentionally rammed into an unmarked police vehicle and drove off.
A short time later, the white Nissan Maxima caused a chain-reaction crash at the intersection of Riverwalk Parkway and Collett Avenue.
Lopez suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Officers later arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer.
As per reports, his 49-year-old female passenger later died at the hospital. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim. However, court documents listed her initials as “K.R.”
Three other people sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
