18-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Drunk Driver in San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA (August 12, 2024) – Emily Hamilton died in a DUI crash in San Jose late Saturday evening on August 10.
The fatal crash happened around 11:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 101, just south of Hellyer Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, Hamilton was driving home from a closing shift at California’s Great America in Santa Clara when another vehicle rear-ended her.
While Hamilton exchanged information with the other driver, a third vehicle struck her.
The impact caused Hamilton fatal injuries and she died at the scene. She was 18 years old of Morgan Hill.
The driver of the third vehicle, a 43-year-old Morgan Hill woman, sustained minor injuries. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Hamilton is survived by her father and three sisters.
