Elias Gutierrez Arrested, Kristin Bellovich Dies in DUI Bicycle Crash near Beach Boulevard and Glencoe Drive

 
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (October 2, 2024) — Elias Gutierrez faces DUI charges following Monday’s fatal hit-and-run bicycle accident near Beach Boulevard and Glencoe Drive.
 
According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, officers booked 68-year-old Elias Madriz Gutierrez into jail on suspicion of DUI causing great bodily injury and second-degree murder.
 
Sometime early Monday, his 2023 Ford Bronco slammed into a bicyclist — 51-year-old Kristin Bellovich — from behind. Instead of stopping to help, he left the scene, and Bellovich passed away from her injuries.
 
However, officers located him and took him into custody. Court records showed he has two prior DUI convictions, enabling prosecutors to upgrade his charge from manslaughter to second-degree murder.
