Driver Hospitalized in DUI Fiery Crash on Ocean View Boulevard in Logan Heights

LOGAN HEIGHTS, CA (November 22, 2024) — Paramedics took a driver to a hospital following Thursday’s fiery DUI accident on Ocean View Boulevard near 31st Street.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the single-car crash happened around 1:39 a.m. For DUI reasons, a 21-year-old driving westbound lost control of a red 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. Subsequently, the car struck an unoccupied 2012 Toyota Tacoma, which collided with an unoccupied 2017 Hyundai Elantra behind it. Meanwhile, the Malibu continued onto the sidewalk and struck a San Diego Gas & Electric power box, exposing live wires.

Soon after, San Diego Police responded and pulled the 21-year-old driver from the car, which caught fire. Paramedics took the victim to a hospital with a broken leg.

At this time, officers believe DUI might have factored into the crash. If anyone has more to add to this accident, call local authorities.
