Daniel Reyes Dead in Moreno Valley Car Crash on San Timoteo Canyon Road

MORENO VALLEY, CA (May 19, 2022) — One person died in a car accident on San Timoteo Canyon Road near Redlands Boulevard on Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as 47-year-old Daniel Reyes of Moreno Valley, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 1:30 p.m. Reyes was at the wheel of a 2000 Honda Accord going eastbound on San Timoteo when he came up to a slower-moving 2021 GMC Sierra just ahead of him.

Reyes attempted to pass the pickup and crossed over the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic. However, a 2022 Toyota Camry was approaching from the opposite direction, prompting Reyes to swerve back into the eastbound lane, where his Honda hit the pickup.

As a result, the impact caused the Honda to veer back into the path of the Toyota.

Shortly after, Riverside County Fire Department officials arrived at the scene and pronounced Reyes deceased.

The Toyota driver, a 50-year-old Calimesa man, was taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment of minor injuries. However, the pickup driver, a 23-year-old Newport Beach man, was not hurt.

Montez said alcohol or drugs have not been ruled out as possible factors in the crash. However, anyone with information should call the CHP San Gorgonio office at 951-769-2000.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Daniel Reyes.
