Woman Sustains Severe Contusion after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (March 8, 2023) – Ciana Leehang was injured in a hit-and-run crash in Oakland Thursday afternoon on March 2.
 
The crash happened on the corner of 54th and Adeline streets, just blocks from the children’s hospital. According to the Oakland Police Department, Leehang was walking home from work. She was at an intersection with stop signs in all directions. After a car went through, she started walking in the crosswalk. That was when a white truck hit her.
 
After striking her, the driver of the truck continued without stopping.
 
A good samaritan jumped out of their car to help. They called Oakland police as Leehang’s aunt, Dawn Burford, rushed to help her. They went to the hospital for a CT scan and other tests.
 
Doctors determined Leehang has a severe contusion on her lower back.
 
At this time, an investigation is ongoing and police are on the lookout for the hit-and-run suspect.
