29-Year-Old Boron Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Highway 99 near Lerdo Highway
SHAFTER, CA (June 6, 2024) – Bryan Adan Cruz was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Shafter early Friday morning on May 31.
The fatal crash happened around 1:35 a.m. on Highway 99 near Lerdo Highway. According to the California Highway Patrol, Cruz was walking along the northbound lanes of the highway when a vehicle struck him.
After the crash, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene without rendering aid.
First responders pronounced Cruz dead at the scene. He was a 29-year-old Boron resident, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
At this time, the hit-and-run driver remains at large.
Bakersfield CHP officers are still investigating the crash and searching for the suspect.
