Bicyclist Suffers Multiple Fractures and Abrasions after Crash with Pickup Truck on Fairmount Avenue in Talmadge
TALMADGE, CA (January 14, 2025) – A 51-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Fairmount Avenue in the Talmadge neighborhood of San Diego Thursday afternoon on January 9.
The accident happened around 5:31 p.m. near Montezuma Road. According to the San Diego Police Department, the victim was riding his bicycle northbound in the bicycle lane. At the same time, a 27-year-old man was driving a white 2022 Ford F-250 northbound on Montezuma Road and took the transition ramp onto Fairmount Avenue.
The bicyclist approached the transition ramp to Montezuma Road and veered to the right, into the path of the pickup truck, resulting in a rear-end collision.
Paramedics rushed the bicyclist to a hospital with rib fractures, a clavicle fracture, a spine fracture, a fibula fracture and multiple abrasions.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which is under investigation.
