Man on Bicycle Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on East Brundage Lane in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 5, 2023) – A man on his bicycle was killed in a hit-and-run crash on East Brundage Lane in east Bakersfield late Monday evening.
The fatal crash happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. on April 3, just east of Mount Vernon Avenue. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the man was riding his bicycle westbound on East Brundage Lane when a westbound vehicle struck him.
Officers located the man down in the roadway suffering from major injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the involved vehicle reportedly fled the scene after the crash.
It is unknown if speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with further information on the crash is urged to call BPD at 327-7111.
