2 Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash at 5th Street in Koreatown

KOREATOWN, CA (August 6, 2024) — At least two people required medical attention in a high-speed 2-car accident at 5th Street and Wilton Place.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a police chase and two-vehicle crash happened Thursday. It started when Marina Del Rey Sheriff’s Station deputies tried pursuing a BMW. However, authorities stopped the pursuit, so LAPD could take over.

Subsequently, the BMW reached 80 miles per hour on 5th Street and plowed into a Mazda vehicle. However, reports did not confirm if the collision happened during the chase.

Due to the impact, one vehicle struck a parked white car and another violently spun into the corner of a building.

After the accident, a BMW passenger tried to flee but police captured the individual soon after. Both BMW and Mazda drivers suffered unknown wounds in the incident, and police arrested three suspects from the BMW.

Reports did not clearly say what prompted the chase or if the BMW was stolen. However, police learned at least one BMW occupant was tied to an earlier robbery.

You could be the safest driver but run into a reckless motorist. Remember, be on the lookout for negligent, careless motorists. They often speed, drive unpredictably and tailgate. Avoid these drivers if possible.
