32-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on 5 Freeway near Garden Highway

 
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (August 30, 2023) – Angelina Irene Parsons was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Sacramento County early Sunday morning on August 27.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:15 a.m. on northbound 5 Freeway, just south of Garden Highway near the American River Parkway area. According to the California Highway Patrol, Parsons was trying to cross the freeway when a vehicle struck her in an exit-only lane of the freeway.
 
The vehicle did not stop after the crash, leaving the victim with fatal injuries.
 
Police found Parsons on the right shoulder and pronounced hear dead at the scene.
 
Parsons was 32 years old, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
 
Police described the possible suspect vehicle as a 2016 to 2018 Chevrolet Malibu or similar vehicle. The car would likely have front end damage.
 
The CHP asked anyone who witnessed the crash to call investigators at 916-861-1300 or 916-861-2300.
