Alma Teresa Alcorta Del Lazaro Dies, Kendra Cordova Detained in DUI Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 101 near Santa Maria Way

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (September 10, 2024) — Alma Teresa Alcorta Del Lazaro died in a DUI wrong-way accident on Highway 101 near Santa Maria Way.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-car crash happened around 5:13 a.m. Sunday. Upon receiving word of a northbound Mazda in the southbound lanes of Highway 101, officers responded. However, 10 minutes later, 34-year-old Kendra Cordova crashed her northbound 2020 Mazda CX-9 into a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado.
 
Subsequently, CHP officers and emergency personnel arrived and confirmed one fatality. Lazaro, the Chevrolet driver, passed away from severe injuries. The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Office recently identified her. Her 63-year-old male passenger suffered major injuries in the crash and was taken to a hospital.
 
Cordova suffered major injuries, as well, but faces DUI charges.
