Alex Garcia Detained, Driver Dead in DUI 2-Car Crash on Cartmill Avenue at J Street

 
TULARE, CA (February 23, 2023) — Alex Garcia faces charges in a fatal DUI broadside accident on Cartmill Avenue at J Street.
 
According to Tulare police officers, the two-vehicle accident happened around 3:48 p.m. Monday. For DUI-related reasons, 31-year-old Garcia allowed his westbound vehicle to run a red traffic light at a high rate of speed. As a result, his car broadsided another, driven by a 37-year-old man.
 
Soon after, paramedics arrived at the scene and rendered life-saving measures. However, the driver of the second car perished at the scene. Authorities did not release his name.
 
Officers found Garcia guilty of DUI and arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI and voluntary manslaughter. Now, Garcia remains incarcerated at South Tulare County Detention Facility.
