75-Year-Old, 18-Year-Old Die in Head-On Crash on Highway 33 in Dos Palos
DOS PALOS, CA (July 25, 2023) — A 75-year-old and an 18-year-old died in a head-on accident on Highway 33 near Christian Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-car crash happened around 9:45 p.m. Thursday. Upon responding, officers with the CHP found two cars that crashed in a head-on fashion.
In the investigation, authorities learned that a 75-year-old woman driving a southbound 2015 Nissan at an unknown speed did not have her seatbelt on. In addition, her headlights were likely not activated. Meanwhile, an 18-year-old driving a northbound 2020 Honda appeared to have used the southbound lanes to pass another vehicle and crashed into the woman’s Nissan.
Both cars crashed in a head-on manner, resulting in two fatalities.
Officials did not release the names of the Nissan and Honda drivers. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to factor into this crash, but an ongoing investigation by the Los Banos area CHP office should clarify any ambiguous details.
