Man Dies in Antioch Pedestrian Accident on Lone Tree Way
ANTIOCH, CA (June 25, 2024) — A 71-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on Lone Tree Way near Muirwood Drive.
According to the Antioch Police Department, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 10:33 p.m. Sunday. As a 71-year-old pedestrian tried walking against a Don’t Walk signal, a driver struck the victim in a crosswalk.
Subsequently, Antioch Police and paramedics responded but the pedestrian passed away from severe injuries. Officials have not released his name. The driver stayed on site and cooperated with investigators who ruled out impairment as a possible explanation for the incident.
Moments later, an elderly woman drove through the police block, nearly running over the man’s body. From there, five Antioch police officers tried chasing her before catching up to her. The elderly woman appeared confused and disoriented and received a ride home from a police officer.
There is no other information surrounding this crash.
