Three Dead in Kings County Two-Vehicle Accident Involving Big Rig on 17th Avenue near Kansas Avenue
KINGS COUNTY, CA (January 30, 2025) – Three people died in a big rig accident on 17th Avenue, late Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on January 25, at about 11:43 p.m. A southbound 2017 Toyota Camry reportedly failed to yield at the intersection.
Then, an eastbound 2020 Peterbilt 579 broadsided the vehicle at Kansas Avenue. The impact of the collision caused the Toyota to hit a metal pole.
Emergency crews pronounced two Toyota passengers dead at the scene. As per reports, a third victim later died at the hospital. Authorities withheld the identity of the victims, pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Kaweah Health Medical Center. The front passenger reportedly received treatment at the scene.
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident.
