2 Teens Killed in Suspected DUI 2-Car Crash on Wood Road in Riverside

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (November 4, 2024) — Two teens died in a suspected DUI 2-car accident on Wood Road at Van Buren Boulevard.
 
According to the Riverside Police Department, the fatal 2-car crash happened around 5:40 a.m. Saturday. For possible DUI reasons, a 17-year-old male driver of a northbound Lexus ran a red light at a high rate of speed. Subsequently, a westbound blue Scion entered the intersection on a green traffic light and crashed into the Lexus, sending the Lexus northbound and hitting a cement light pole, a wooden electrical pole and a tree before stopping.
 
Due to the impact, the Lexus ruptured in flames, killing the male driver and his 18-year-old female passenger at the scene. Officials have not released their names. A third passenger, described as a 17-year-old boy, suffered serious injuries and received care at a nearby hospital.
 
The driver of the blue Scion was unharmed and stayed at the scene for investigations. Officers believe DUI factored into the accident but did not elaborate on any other leading factors.
