Hit-and-Run Driver Strikes Two Pedestrians on Chester Avenue in Bakersfield Leaving Them with Major Injuries

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 27, 2023) – Two pedestrians were seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Chester Avenue in Bakersfield early Saturday morning on June 24.
 
The crash happened around 12:15 a.m. just north of Decatur Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the two pedestrians were crossing Chester Avenue within the first lane when they were struck by a lifted black Chevrolet pick-up truck.
 
The impact threw both victims onto the roadway. Paramedics transported them to an area hospital with major injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck fled the scene after the crash.
 
Authorities believe the truck is an older model with at least a six-inch lift. It was last seen traveling westbound on Washington Street.
 
An investigation is ongoing. CHP officials asked anyone with information to call them at 661-396-6600.
